A Joyous New Year!

I must've been more well behaved than I thought. Santa was delightfully good to me this year because I got a new Ovation Celebrity mandolin. WOW! It plays and sounds wonderful-I fell in love with the more basic model when I played it at a music store in October. I can finally start recording thru the computer! (I need to try it amped-which I haven't done as yet) I've been working on various tunes such as "Geese in the Bog","Slieve Russell" and "Out On the Ocean". New Year's resolution is to keep this blog much more current than I have been-the part time job I have nearly turned into a full time one the past few months. Mandolin Babe's did extremely well over the holiday season-I couldn't believe how many tin whistles were flying off the shelves! Next year I'll be selling whistle and handcrafted whistle case sets for gifts. I am selling the cases seperately now-so if you need one, stop in the store...it's just a click away!
Another put off interest has been my bodhran that I won for $9.99 from an online auction a couple of years ago. I finally ordered a replacement head for it,and found a wrench to loosen the brackets to remove the old drum head. I cleaned up the rosewood rim and need to clean the metal rim & brackets before placing the new head on.
Goals for this year are to become comfortably self employed. I enjoy the thrill of seeing the business do well, knowing that with every sale I'm helping someone grow musically-expanding their song library,or opening the door to a new instrument or a new technique on one they already play. So do keep an eye on this blog as there will be more frequent entries-planning on once a week. And I'm welcoming comments & questions as well!

TIme to start Pickin Christmas Carols

And on mandolin, they are lovely! I have a wonderful book in my store with fantastic sounding arrangements-see the pic of the songbook at the upper right? Hit the link to go bid on it & have a chance of getting it at a deal! I love mandolin for it's portability-and when your caroling or visiting a beloved friend or relative, who wants to lug around a big instrument? If you have friends who love the holiday season,(and I think musicians love more than most) get em together and see what you can work on together-form a holiday music group and see what transpires.
